The Boundary Commission for Wales is looking to recruit four Assistant Commissioners (including one reserve post) to aid the work of the 2023 Review of Wales’ parliamentary constituencies.
The Assistant Commissioners will chair the crucial public hearings which will be held across Wales in early 2022 as the Commission asks the public to submit their views on the initial proposals which are due to be published in September 2021.
The Boundary Commission for Wales is looking for individuals with integrity and independence of mind, who can work accurately at speed and under pressure, quickly absorbing detail, and analysing large quantities of information objectively.
Candidates must be able to produce clear and succinct evidence-based recommendations, both orally and in writing, work well as part of a team, explain procedures, inspire respect and confidence, and maintain authority when challenged, particularly in a public hearing context.
Experience of conducting and managing public hearings with in-person and virtual participation is vital for the role, as is the ability to treat everyone with respect and sensitivity whatever their background.
At least one of the Assistant Commissioners appointed must be a fluent Welsh speaker.
Assistant Commissioners will receive a remuneration of £505.50 per day (£252.75 per half-day).
